When this time of the year comes around, there’s one familiar sight to everyone in the company–a big white box with a red train.
PSPI's 10th Annual Toy Drive
Every holiday season we partner with Toys for Tots and collect new, unwrapped toys and match 100% of the donations received. Toys for Tots is a nonprofit run by the U.S. Marine Corps that distributes toys to les fortunate children on Christmas. The mission of the program is to provide a sign of hope through the gift of a new toy. This year was very special to us, as it was our 10th year supporting this great cause!
Our yearly tradition started on 2011 when one of our team members, Barbara Limbertos, took the initiative to lead our first toy drive. Since then, donations have grown exponentially year after year thanks to our employees, the community, and our business partners. According to Barbara, her motivation to participate in the toy drive were “all the years spent working in the schools, always wanting to make a difference in the lives of children. The thought of little ones going without [broke her] heart, and the thought of parents being in a position where they cannot provide simple necessities, nor a gift to put under the tree…well [she] just can’t bear the heartbreak. The holidays are about giving.”
After last year’s contributions dropped from our toy drives pre-COVID, we were determined as ever to uphold the gift of giving. This year, we donated a total of $65,000 worth of toys, making this not only our biggest fundraiser yet, but the largest donation the Marine Corps received in the Bay Area! Our Norwalk branch also had a successful toy drive with a total donation of $3,000.
We want to thank each and every person that has supported our toy drive throughout the decade and magnified our fundraiser message. The success of our toy drive would not be what it is today without you. Here’s to another 10 years of making children’s holidays a little bit brighter!
